The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Engraving by Christopher Bing

The Christopher Bing engraved book of "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere" includes Primary Source Documents. The first document at the beginning of the book is a letter Thomas Gage sent to Lieut. Colonel Smith ordering him to stop any groups of men on horseback (Paul Revere was stopped on his midnight ride). The document at the back of the book is the Deposition Paul Revere gave to the Massachusetts Provincial Congress about his midnight ride. It is a true account of that night and can be used with the assignments that follow.

Paul Revere was a character. After reading "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere", looking at the John Singleton Copley picture and the Grant Wood painting, and reading Paul Revere's own account of that night, students can complete this chart.
